CHILD SUPPORT
The Whiteru Firm, PLLC can assist you in establishing child support payments based upon financial information, the child custody arrangement and the visitation schedule. When determining child support a Court will do what it believes is in the child’s best interests. Further, a Court will consider the mandatory child support guideline’s when calculating child support payments.
The child custody arrangement plays a crucial role in determining the amount of child support to be paid. Typically, a parent that is awarded sole physical custody will receive more child support than a parent that shares custody through a joint physical custody arrangement.
Maryland and Washington, D.C. have provided online child support calculators. These calculators allow parents to estimate possible child support payments prior to appearing in Court. The calculators factor in the net income of both parents and give credits for expenses related to health insurance and daycare. Also, children from other relationships can also be considered when determining child support.
